Pistol Holders

What do you use to hold your pistol in the safe? Or do you just leave it in the case?I just want some space saving ideas for inside the safe.

My safe has a couple of wooden shelves covered in some sort of fuzzy cloth. I drilled a series of holes 2" apart and glued in 5/16 wooden dowels, about 5" in from the front edge of the shelf. The guns stand up, butt facing out and don't get any scratches or bumps.

I lay a large old towel on my shelves to protect it from the rough texture of my safe. Works like a charm. If need be, I can lay a 2nd layer on top of the first for times when I've got a full house.
