:confused:I've been looking around the ISPC and action shooting thread and have notices many of the shooters there use pistols that I thought were "prohibited" due to magazine capacity. I thought any pistol with a magazine capacity greater than 10+1 made a pistol "prohibited". I've been restricting my pistol shopping (Dreaming?) to handguns with barrel's over 4.2 inches and with magazine capacitys 10+1 and under. Is a Glock 17 with it's 15+ round capacity magazine "prohibited" or "restricted"? While I'm asking dumb questions, does anybody know why the Browning Hi-Power pistol is not leagal for use in ISPC shooting? Thanks, Ric.

If the mag holds more than 10, the magazine becomes prohibited, not the pistol it fits in.

Pistols in .25 or .32 and/or with a barrel 105mm and shorter are prohibited.

The use of magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds in the magazine body are prohibited. Most gun makers or after market magazine manufactures make 10 round magazines to comply with, oh say Military Requirements and State or Country laws. That being said the Glock 17 as you list is fine to purchase as they will come with a 10 round OEM magazine or a 17 round magazine rivited in the counter hole to make it hold a max of 10 rounds. I have a Glock19, with 5 15 round magazines, all pinned legally to 10 rounds. Since the G19 is a compact, I also NEED to have the extended 106MM barrel to make it legal as I do not have the 12.6 classification.

"...Browning Hi-Power pistol is not legal..." It is as long as the mag safety is intact.
Like Steve says, it's a mag holding more than 10 that is evil, not the pistol. The '+1' doesn't matter.
A Glock 17 is restricted, but its factory 17 round mag must be pinned to 10. There are 10 round Glock 17 mags available though.

Thanks guys, I get the whole mag size thing now. This really opens up a bunch of possiblilites for pistols, I appreciate the info.
Sunray, my question is based on a list of pistols permitted for use on the ISPC site. It simply states there that the Browning Hi-Power is not usable in competition. The "mag safety" would be intact on a new pistol I assume, but I'll check when I'm on the website or at the gun shop. Again, I appreciate the info guys, thanks. -Ric
