Pistols without Gun Club Memberships

Do different provinces have different requirements of the retailers or ATT's? I haven't had to show anything for proof of membership here in Alberta either. Last time, my temp ATT and registration went through in 3 buisness days, I picked it up, brought it home, and then recieved the 2 yr province wide ATT, within a week and a half, no problems what so ever(except a little bit of shock at how quick it was).

Since I sell across the country, I collect the following information when I sell a handgun: Name, PAL, Home #, Home address, gun club, payment info.

Most times I get all that, sometimes not. That's OK with me. I just want my customer to get his transfer complete the fastest way possible. If he figures his transfer will be approved without a gun club, he probably knows more about his province's CFO than me and who am I to argue?

NS CFO would have contacted your club directly and confirmed your pending membership. Some clubs provide membership lsits to the CFO, some don't.

You all probably know that CFC allows transfer of ALL guns by mail. I do it all the time now as I live in a remote area without any courier service. Mirimichi told me OK, the only time I had to phone the PROVINCIAL firearms office was when I bought a prohibited pistol and only after I had received it in the local post office. Go figure. My friend did not believe me so he phoned Mirimichi and they confirmed what I had told him. Alex.

I`ve never voluntered to do any work at my range but I have always paid my dues on time.
I think we all need to do more to keep our awsome fun sport viable, I`m gonna try to do more.

The Lieberals have indicated that "Target Shooter" designation is going to be a lot harder to get than just joining / being a member of a gun club. They're looking for specific disciplines. ie. things like ISU, CAS, IPSC, IDPA, etc.

Problem is, without the general "shooter", many clubs won't be able to support themselves and stay open.

We've got to stop them from getting back in.

Club membership is linked to your ATT for restricted/prohibs.. i.e. your club
actually 'issues' them, via the provincial firearms office.
Club membership is not required to either purchase or transport... however,
a club issued ATT allows an individual to transport without having to generate
a 'one time' ATT each time you want to make a trip to a range or dealer.
Therefore, a club membership is not required, it just makes life easier.
