im properly guessing nothing can be done but i thought i would ask. i have a revolver that has some pretty bad pitting on the barrel and cylinder i would like to have it re blued but don,t want to waste money on the re blue if the pitting will show any idea's

You have three options,

1- Grind and then TIG weld the pits but it might cost more than you want to pay and the welded area may still stand out after rebluing if the filler metal is not selected properly.

2- Fill the pits with autobody filler or Devcon putty and spray the revolver with a finish like Gunkote, Duracoat, Armacoat.

3- Learn to live with the pits and re-blue or just clean the pits up and cold blue them.

have the firearm bead or sand blasted first and then have at er. This should unless the pitting is very deep even out the surface and at least cause things to blend.

If you go with blueing the rougher surface should allow for a dark almost black matte finish depending on type of blueing etc.

Or this gives the perfect surface for doing a finish such as KG GUNKOTE which incidently comes in gun metal blue as well if that is the color that you have your heart set on for finishing the gun in.

Titanium grey is very popular and some of the greens are nice as well.
