PL adhesives in bedding job?

To me look like perfect compound after is cured. I had chance to see and feel ones made for concrete repairs. It looks like something worth to try.

Did anyone ever use any of PL products in riffle bedding jobs?
 
I have thought that PL-priemium (non-foaming polyurathan glue) might work. But if your not going to use a beding kit JB is the way to go.
 
I'm not sure what kind of release agent would work with PL Premium... I've used it to glue wood to concrete in 1/4" of standing water, and it works!

IF it forms a good bond, you'll never, ever get the action out of the gun.
 
probably any typical release agent, but since were are in homer territory, pam, petrolium jelly or paste wax. It may not mind mosture but I don't think it would glue through grease.

That reminds me I need some, building some steps in the next few days.
 
The key to a good bedding job is the the bedding material has to be strong, hard and have a super low shrinkage rate.

If it shrinks too much, it won't hold the action tight. If it expands it will lock the action into the stock, even with a release agent.

If it's soft it will allow the action to shift, and you'd probably be better off with the original wood, and if the bedding material is weak, well I'm sure you can see how that'd be a bad thing.

The PL Urethane glue is soft and it expands.

But I think PL makes an epoxy putty stuff that should work reasonably well.

However, there really is a reason why JB Weld and Devcon 10210 and 10110 are the standards for epoxy bedding materials.
 
+5!. Epoxy is the best alternative, followed by glass resin, either with the right fillers. PL is specifically designed to be flexible, even though it dries hardish to the soft fingered touch. I use boat building epoxy because it is very high grade, and I have it around.

Damn, I have 9 LARGE tubes of this stuff in my garage from a project where I thought I would need lots. I thought maybe I could go into the bedding business as I have a lifetime supply of the stuff.
