Places/ranges to shoot around Durham Region (Ontario)

:) good luck, there are no ranges in GTA or Durham with a 500 yards distance..
Oshawa has 300m range, then some other clubs have 200m ranges.

There is also Base Borden in Barrie with 800+m range, but I don't know if they allow visitors on regular bases..
You better find a crown land or a farm where you can shoot out to 500.
 
What would be the closest? I really want to try my hand at LR shooting and don't want to be stuck with a rifle and have nowhere to shoot! Oshawa and Barrie gun clubs are not accepting new members at this time!
 
Closest Crown Land is Kawartha Lakes/Minden area.

Closest Ranges are Ajax, Oshawa as mentioned. Start making friends at the clubs now, when membership opens up it does not stay open for long.

Join the Ontario Rifle Association. We have LR matches (300 to 1000 yards) almost every weekend at Camp Borden, Winona (Grimsby), Cedar Springs and Kingston.

You can shoot with us without joining, by paying a range fee. This weekend we shot 300, 600, 900 and 1000 on Saturday, and 900, 1000,and 1000 on Sunday. Next weekend we shoot Friday, Saturday and Sunday, multiple shoots at 400, 500,600, 900 and 1000.

There is also a full Service Rifle program, a series of 8 CQB shoots, plus a "precision" rifle match, that used to be called the Sniper match. it is 300 to 800 yards.

Membership is around $200/yr.

In the winter there is classroom training on some of the finer points that includes a range session.
