Hey there.
I am out in your wonderful city for a few days and was wondering where people go to shoot. I just want to take my brother out to shoot a shotgun, maybe 100rds of target load. Nothing crazy. Prefer heading to crown land if there is some around here.
Thanks.
Kieran

Hope this isnt too late for you but i just read it today. Top of the Malahat is the Victoria Fish and Game Protective Association. They have a great trap set up...as its always more fun to shoot at a target! If youre gunning for crown land...you'll have to drive out to Jordan River to find an area to shoot.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at them and gather they sell guest passes. I figure it's a whole lot of rigamarole go shoot 100rds of target load. I was looking at crown land for that reason (I will bring some garbage bags and clean up after). Maybe it's a hour of shooting. I was going to pick up a box of clays and just lay them out against a natural berm. So up around Jordan river is the popular spot? Anywhere in particular that would be good?reading some threads on here people have had some trouble with crown leases withthe RCMP and forestry companies causing issues. I was trying to avoid any trouble.

Funny, on that facebook link it refers to a "no shooting/no hunting" boundry. Living in the area, its only a no shooting area. You can hunt IAW hunting regs in the area with bow. Love how some expand the laws. Last year, I spoke to the RCMP in Sooke just to make sure they knew that I'd be hunting with bow in the area and when, so when they got calls about it, they would know. They called me on my cell once and asked if i was in an area and I confirmed it. Sure did alot to curb annoyance stops during my hunting.

As long as you go north of the power lines in JR, you'll be fine. You'll see all the trash from "unethical" shooters...which is half the problem with the area.
