"Plain Jane" M1911A1's

I kind of like the basic GI look, although I'm old and it's expected of me . Anyone else like the basic look?:

The lanyard loop on the mainspring housing is a must have for any self respecting USGI 1911A-1 pistol!

No way, just work up the load and go shooting! May be a lighter spring kit for the trigger, but leave the trigger itself stock!

Real men were using USGI .45's for their intended purpose way before the "bells & whistles" crowd were even thought of...

I found mine fine for slowfire target shooting....make sure you grip is good, take your time finding the sights, fairly heavy trigger pull, and holes would pop up on the target. I would not want to try and draw it and shoot something fast though....reliable as old hell, but lacking alot of features I would want on a combat pistol.....like decent sights and good protection from hammer bite.

Work up a load? There's only one load for an original 1911 or 1911A1... 230gr surplus ball. Good enough for Sgt. York!

SpringField makes a reasonable cost 1911A1 reproduction for about $750 but if you got about $1200, Colt has a 1911 reproduction that's as close as you can get to the real WWI pistol.

I hope this is plain enough for my Canadian cousins? I put it together with a Springfield frame I had and a Springfield upper from E-Bay. Yes, it shoots like a house on fire. Regards, Richard

Auto-Ordnance also makes a WW2 GI version, but their QC has been very spotty.

Jes' to git the purists all riled up... My 1911A1. Bought it this way (actually, traded a friend a Winchester Stainless Marine for it).
