Im planning on using a mossberg 935 with high velocity 2-3/4 shell to go skeet shooting (to begin skeet trap shooting )!!!

I know its not the best gun out there for skeet/trap but its the one i have right now for it...

I also know that its not suppossed to take 2-3/4 shell ( because wont cycle it) but its does take and cycle de high velocity shell 1300 and +..

My question is : do i have the right to shoot those shell for skeet/trap ??? the high velovity 2-3/4 shell???

THank you....

Competitive trap loads are not allowed a velocity greater than 1290 FPS (Feet Per Second) with maximum shot charge of 1 1/8 ounces, or 1325 FPS with a maximum shot charge of 1 ounce, or 1350 FPS with a maximum shot charge of 7/8 ounces or less, as measured in any individual shotshell. These velocities are maximum and no individual shotshell shall exceed these limits for the designated shot charge. In addition, no load containing more than 1 1/8 ounces or any shot larger than Number 7 1/2 can be used.

I believe skeet loads are similar, but I don't have their rule book.

Many clubs have these kinds of limits on ammunition used on their trap and skeet fields. The problem is that velocities and larger shot sizes will overshoot the limits of the fields at some clubs.

At registered shoots specific limits are set in the interest of fairness of competition. Most ranges have the 7 1/2 maximum size rule is the interest of safety. Most clubs in Alberta do not set or post limits on velocity for none competative shooting. Winchester makes a Super-Sporting 1 1/8 1300 f.p.s. that I see many handicap trap shooters use and I have seen it used in informal skeet without protest. If your gun will not at least cycle these, I would suggest you stick to singles trap and shoot singles only at skeet.
