Any one here have experience with plastic-dip ( https://plastidip.com/our-products/plasti-dip/ ) on a synthetic stock . wondering about durability does it chip or mark easily. also how thick would 3 applications of this be as that is the recommended number of coats on the can . I do not want to bury the stippling in the grip areas .

I have experience with plastidip on car parts. I coated my fog light covers as well as my entire front end before and it lasts all winter and was very tough to remove.
3 well applied coating would most likely last for awhile on a stock but there is a chance it will bury the stippling

I wouldn't use it on a stock. 3 coats isn't very much and once it starts to peel, it will come right off.
I tried it on my shotguns stock a few years ago. I De greased the piss out of the stock and let it cure for a few weeks before i used it yet the dip on the grip and where my cheek sits peeled and ripped the first trip to the range. I think its better suited to soaking up a few dings from some pee gravel here and there than the constant rubbing a gun gets imo.
Thanks for the reviews .I was kind of thinking any thing that is peelable is not going to have much durability . The stock in question is for a maxus stalker . The dura touch finish got extremely gooie and was removed .may just go with flat black krylon to give the stock a smoother look .

It isn't permanent but it was never meant to be. Its not paint after all. I spray my Tikka 204 every fall with a good coat of Flexi-dip white. Mask off the last inch of the barrel and the scope is wrapped in that white camo tensor bandage stuff. It will start to get marked up after a few trips but I shoot a dab over the rips in it and its good enough for next trip or two. When the snow melts I peel it off in about 15 minutes and there is no trace that it white before that. Its good for the application I use it for and only $11 a can at Lowes instead of the $20 a can at Crappy Tire for Plastidip.
