I think the L1A1 is simply restricted, isn't it? And this only because it wasn't formerly a full-auto? In which case, replacing a barrel on an already-restricted rifle shouldn't change anything, I would think....
Well, I went and got synthetic stocks for her just the same, I have a hard head. Thanks again, Canadian Sig!
It took me around 2 hours to properly fit the forend, grip and buttstock. Quality's less than stellar, and the recoil spring hole thru the buttstock wasn't in exactly the right place, causing some fitment issues. But it's done now, and I'm proud to report that I've saved a MASSIVE 6 ounces over the wooden stocks.
I'm down to a slim 9.25 lbs not including the stock 20 round (pinned of course) mag. How the heck did anyone ever carry this broomhandle of a rifle over battlefields and thru dense forest/jungle?
I wonder if a shorter barrel would make that much of a difference? Or, I could simply drill holes thru it everywhere to lighten it LOLOL
PS: Forgot my camera at a party last weekend. I'll post pics (if anyone wants to see the stocks) as soon as I get it back...
