Anyone used plastidip to protest their scopes from scapes etc?

I have a few scopes that are on hunting rigs that are a bit glossy and am thinking of spraying them with a flat black plastidip from a can.

Obviously I would tape off the parts that need it and would do it with the scope already mounted.

Any downside?

Anyone done it? What was the result?

Thanks in advance.

If solvent gets on it while cleaning it will take it right off, I know a friend had this happen with a stock. He peeled it all off and just painted it, my truck bumper was plasti dipped by a previous owner and it’s peeling like crazy from bush use. Take that as you will.

Is your main intention to protect them, or hide the glossyness?

Both.

I plastidipped the rocker panels on my Trailblazer ss a few years back to prevent rock chips. Stripping it last weekend was a biatch- tried various solvents, paint thinners, alcohol, brake clean, wd-40, goop. The stuff was surprisingly tough.
