Been thinking about getting into a tactical or HD shotgun project. I have looked at a few forums and googled around a bit. I am on a tight budget but have considered a few shotguns to use as a building platform. I was hoping some of the more experienced here could give me some feedback,

#1
Dominion Arms Grizzly Mag (models I would have rather have the nicer 15" but it's out of stock) but there is this one at $300:

Takes many 870 accessories, and I love the magazine concept. the length mismatch between mag tube and barrel seems a little weird. Or...

#2
Mossberg Persuader (500)
$320:

No cool mag, but seems as though there are a few accessories available. 20 " is a little long (or is it?). Nice price. Or ...

#3
870 EXPRESS SYNTHETIC TACTICAL

(no image)
Seems similar to the Persuader in basic configuration, but costs $460. Lots of stuff out there for it. Or ...

Norinco HP-9 14"
I can only find one source so far (Frontier) for $340

Supposedly it takes 870 accessories. No mag :(. Is 14" okay for a platform?

Beyond those, shotguns are getting too pricey for me. Others are avaialble as tacticals, but sport goofy muzle breaks and suppressors. What do you guys think? Any one of these okay? Should I be considering something else? I was hoping toone day end up with a collapsible stock, small rail, and a chainsaw (kidding).

P.S. There isn't anything suitable in the EE. I looked.

lots of stuff posted o nthe EE just have to look.
take a look at some of my posts and sig line, more tac shotgun stuff then you would know what to do with :)

I like a short bbl 870 platform to work with, tube feed has more benefits as far as tactical training goes, But the mag fed are great for faor loading & unloading. I would suggest starting with the HP9. Just dont buy the 780 homeland by accident.....

^^ Very important detail if you go with the hp9, they are pretty good guns (I own one) but my friend accidentally bought a 780 and those a POS!!! If you're looking into the HP9's pm me I'm thinking about selling mine.

If you want a shotgun that holds 7+1 or more the 14" barrel on the HP-9 is a little short. The mag tube extension would be longer than the barrel by quite a bit.

In any rush? I remember Canam saying something about more 15 inch Grizzly-Mag possibly being built next year.
Thats my plan..... just gotta wait it out

My post in the dealers area asking about them was answered with a, "it was a one off ... maybe" response. I don't think I want to wait that long.

Good point. This is the kind of info I'm after. I wonder what the tube capacity is on a 14" HP-9. 3+1 ??

This is still a tough choice each of the shotguns I listed have good points.
-870's have all the gear avialable (along with the HP9 and Grizzlys).
-The mags do add something, at least for me.
-The non-tapered barrels like Dj_Squelch and BBB look a little better than the tapered GS barrels
-Mossbergs are inexpensive.

Dammit, I'm torn between them all. It's hard to pick one. My wife thinks I should just run out and buy this:
MODEL 500 SPECIAL PURPOSE TACTICAL

Kind of takes the fun out of it, plus I have no idea who makes the accessories. I have heard pepole bash ATI addons. And no handy removable mags. Hell, by the time I decide on something, we'll be able to order laser rifles online.

Nice. I would have to replace the barrel on the remaining CanadaAmmo offerings to match that build. I love the foregrip. What is it? What is that buttstock?

you know what you really want...

a ROADBLOCKER on a BIPOD!!!

:D

I saw those on a couple of online retailers. I can't believe Mossberg made these. WTF? A PG and a giant break? What the hell was the design group thinking? They must have come up with this one after a 9 martini lunch break.
