Hey guys, I got a question for those who have recently bought new Troy folding BUIS. I've bought two sets this month: a basically brand new set of micros offered to me when I posted a thread and a brand new set of standard folding (M4 front, DOA rear) and the difference between the two is quite profound. The micros are rock solid. Plenty of resistance to flip up with a crisp snap when they lock and zero play. Makes me warm and fuzzy. But the other set have a lot less resistance when flipping up, lightly click into position and have an annoying amount of play both side to side and front to back. They're not floppy but not the Troys I'm used to or was expecting for over $300. Now the machining, finish and lettering is excellent. The lettering is brighter than the very lightly used micros. The packaging looks totally legit but the lockup is not very Troy like. Anyone else experience this?

My troy rear buis have slight movement forward and back, very very slight movement side to side. Will always return back to zero if pressure on the sight is release. I think this is normal, I have not seen a POA/POI change for me.

No experience with the micro version can't comment for comparison. I think you're fine, I was surprised with the wiggle room when I first got them too, but have yet to seen and issue with it. However, I'm not using these as primary "precision" sights. Just a back up for the aimpoint.

For the flipping up part, mine seem to flip up and lock crisply.

I have read before that the wiggle room was for operation with debris around it. I would see how holds up shooting and then go from there.

I have 50$ ncstar ones that are rock solid, couldn't justify spending 200$+ on troy's or yhm's because I'll never use them, glad I didn't after reading this.

Wow no way! Who knew P.O.S. chinese NCSTAR flip ups would beat out the troy BUIS, the number 1 after market BUIS for the AR platform...what a valid contribution to this thread.

Anyways, mine are rock solid, M4 front, DOA rear. And they kick ass.

If you are paying $200 for a set, then you are not looking hard enough.

Certainly not new set of folding Troy's!!

Used, sure if you're patient and the seller is willing to negotiate and include shipping/insurance. Considering they go for, new, between $175-$225 each +tx + shipping...$200 all-in is over 50% off the full price.

OR

You know corners of the interweeb that we don't ;)

Why would you put a set of sights on a rifle (back up to otherwise) if you never intend to use them?

Very dark corners. lol

Im concerned they may be knock offs. Did you get them from a reputable source?

Do you have pictures?

They were bought from a CGN dealer. I too would like to know where these sub $200 sets of brand new genuine Troy BUIS are. Don't bother posting air soft links or used ads. I paid $341 all in with tax and shipping for the M4/DOA set and $180 shipped for the lightly used micros. The micros retail for just under $200 in Canada per set when they're in stock, standard height are almost that just for the rear and more for tritium rears. After sitting down and really comparing the 2 the biggest difference seems to be the spring in the lock is much stiffer on the micros. All the lettering is spelled correctly and in order and the fit/finish of everything else is identical. I googled the issue and it seems the troys are hit and miss with this. I'll end up keeping them I think, and do more homework before buying. Normally I do but with a reputation like Troys and the rock solid micros I thought the new set would be just as good.

lol 200+ as in I wouldnt spend anything over 200$ on buis' especially for just the front sight. I'm not a salesperson for troy so sorry I don't know the exact price. if you're saying they cost you 300$ and they got more SLOP than my drive train does then I feel even worse for you haha.

Good to know... Thanks for sharing.

the guy just wanted to know if there was a defect with his sights or if they might have been fake. I'm happy that your NCstar sights worked out for you. Nothing like finding good value.
But "I feel even worse for you haha." on the internet. Seriously?

Sorry I just don' get it, he just wanted some help.

Stupidity is a hell of a drug, especially when someones trying to compare ncstar cheap chinese junk to troy.

it's more or less my way of saying if my cheap ncstar ones have no play in them, it's unacceptable as to why his fancy troy ones that he spent 250+ more on do and he should get his money back or exchange them. And before I decided to buy the junk ones that work perfect, I was gonna buy the fancy M&P logo'd Troy battle front flip up...js glad I didn't. And yeah I guess comparing "cheap chinese junk" that has none of the problems buddies $300+ state of the art, hands down best in the world AR buis which I had actually planned to purchase at one point is stupid. you guys are hilarious. sorry I hurt your feelings or upset you. I sincerely apologize. e_e

Lol well there you have it guys. NC Star is better than high end American made parts. Gary read between the lines. I didn't say they were floppy just not as tight and crisp as the micros. Everything else about them is awesome and they'll be staying. NC star... lmao.

I've had a set of Troy's before that had some play in them, and another set of LaRue branded ones that locked up tight. They were both genuine Troys, but no idea why they were so different.
