Guns are like children or pets. Nobody wants to admit that they have their favourites...................

Which guns in your cabinet(s) get the extra protection of a gun sock to protect them from the inevitable "safe kisses"?

Two of my socked rifles are collectibles: IMI Timberwolf and the M-S 1903.

One of them is a work camp rifle so I have no idea of why I have a sock over it: BRNO 602.

The last one is my big game hunting rifle: BRNO 600.

I think the common theme is they all have nice wood but then again so do my 1895GS, CZ 455 and my Henry .357.

Maybe it's their age...................

All, c'ept the short shewter …………………………..:onCrack:

The nicer ones get the padded rifle/shotgun cases.
Been collecting those ten dollar sewn up ones the one chap sells
at the gun shows.

He stitches them up with a reinforcing edge and yewses strings at the top end.
Instert ker-pow, fold open end over and tyer up.

Simple like snawt awn yer pinkie.

Every revolver and pistol gets the sock, rifles and shotguns with wood stocks gets the sock. Synthetic stocks stay au natural....
Found it really reduces the safe kisses

Only one my 1923 Parker that was given to me by the original owner ( my wife's great uncle) on his 100'th birthday. It gets to kill a bird each year then back into its special spot.

I think the sock gives a false sense of security. I think it simply hides the 'kiss' until the sock comes off...

All of them.
Then it's fun picking out Winchester Model 70's from Ruger 77's from Remington 700's just by feel.
Over and under Browning's are a pretty easy tell just by barrel length.
Ruger Number 1's may require an unwrapping however.

I have a Tikka M65 that gets a sock, so does my 1950 Long Branch target gun and my Pape boxlock. I love these guns but they get shot regularly.

If there is any moisture in the firearm, the sock will not only keep it inside but it will absorb part of the oil you applied to protect the gun.
That's what I was told, no idea if it is true.
I had an rifle for years inside a sock and it never rusted.

No socks on my guns.
With the storage regs........they are tucked away far deeper than I like now without socks.
