This guy must really have been something. He had everything against him in regard to military awards, first he was a colonial and second he was a native. There was very serious prejudice against both groups in the British military system of the time. So three MM's is really something. I bet if he had been British the awards would have been higher. Just read a history of the first day of the battle of the Somme. High levels of bravery were common place and often went unrecognized. This guy must have had size 27 solid brass cohones and incredible skill and luck to win the MM three time. As the saying goes" there goes a man my son". To go out into no mans land day after day after day when the enemy will do anything to take you out, that really takes something.
