(I sell a lot of Weatherby rifles at work - we don't deal in "used" but do have access to wholesale prices, trade value ranges etc).

It does look like a Deluxe model.

There were some made in Japan and some made in Germany (plus the US). The German built models tend to go for a premium (considered "more collectible" by Wby connoisseurs), but many say the Japanese models have nicer wood.

A brand new Mk 5 Deluxe will retail (MSRP) for about 3K (although many sell for less "brand new")- the wholesale on them is (about) $2400'ish - so if you wanted to sell it/trade it to a dealer you would probably see an offer of "no better than" 2K - that may give you an idea of how to price it. (and I'm talking Canadian bucks here - are the US prices you quote "asking" or "realized" prices? - also, Weatherby Magnum calibers will have a premium over non-Wby calibers in many cases if you are seeing listings for non-wby calibers).

Of course that would depend on barrel condition, stock condition etc.

Perhaps you should ask Prophet River. They handle many Wby's, plus sell/consign "used" - they can probably give you a "realistic" estimate as to what it might realize...

Thanks for the info!! The pricing I was going from in the States was asking price. I know our market is a little softer up here. I was thinking around the $2000 mark, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't way off the mark. Barrel/action/stock and overall condition I would put as excellent, but I haven't had a bore scope through it yet.

I've seen MkV Deluxe on sale recently at several places for well under $2000. Someone might pay that much for a used Japanese MkV because of the wood, but that someone would also have to be ok with the muzzlebrake which is, for me, a deal breaker.
