Long time loader but new to black powder. I’m using a fiber wad over my powder. Is there something thinner/better. It’s a 45/90.

Don't know if thinner but Buffalo Arms sells poly wads. .030 and .060 thick I use .060 in Sharps. 45-70 and several muzzleloaders. For cartridge guns Swiss 1.5fg powder compressed with a separate die prior to loading the bullet

I us wads cut from cereal boxes, 0.029 thick. I also found a source for thicker wads. New washer and dryer came with cardboard corners for protection during shipping 0.060 thick. I have also used milk carton wads in my 38-55’s with good results. Princesses Auto sells a set of hole punches which covers most of my wad sizes. I have had to hog a couple out to get the correct size. For about $20 it is a good investment. They are also used to cut wads for my 16 and 14 ga double shotguns, caplocks.
I would rather cut my own than being dependent on a store possibly having them.
If your going to order them get more than you think you will use because they can be hard to get.
