The AG42b uses the same sling as the M-96 rifle & the same M-96 bayonet, both of which are readily available. A bayonet should go for about $35 and a sling about $15. They are sold here: http://www.tradeexcanada.com/index.php

The extra mag you have is valuable - worth in the $100 range. Ammo is a bit of a problem - there isn't any cheap milsurp ammo available. You either shoot commercial or load your own.

I just sold a sling for one. All leather, brass stud, with 3 crowns stamped. There are slings for the 96 and 38 Swedes as well as the 42 available at some firearms sales sites on the net. As for ammo, there's lots out there or you can reload. 6.5x55 is used in the Swedish 94 carbine,96,38, M41,63 and your 42B. Then there are the Norwegian Long krag, 95carbine, 1912 and variants. Then there are custom rifles and probably some modern sporters in that cal. In Ont. Epps, Simons and LeBarons sell these rds as do a lot of vendors at the shows. Ballpark $0.70 per rd. I would read up on proper ammo for the 42B to ensure your confident shooting that rifle. I would get the headspace checked too.
 
Looks like there are two of us new to ljungmans. I just decided to reload rather than go hunt down surplus ammo.

Some people recommend using a dry lube on the ammo for the ljungman and some people say no lube is needed. Surplusrifleforum has a section for ljungmans which I found helpful.

When playing with your gun put the safety on or you will get something that will make garrand thumb look like a paper cut.

Look for some stripper clips for it as well and enjoy having a gun that throws brass father than you can spit ;)
 
I have one and it is in 6.5 x 55 accurate out to 200 yds and it eats ammo like a pig! Throws the empties about 30 feet behind me. Lots of fun. Don't regret buying it
 
Nice rifle! I'm lucky to have an ag42 in 6.5x55 and the big brother Hakim in 7.92x57. They are heavy but they shoot near bug holes at 100yrd. Very well made rifles. They trhow brass the hell of a distance but god they are fun to shoot!
 
The disc tells you what the bore condition was when last measured by the military. Speaks of the diameter and condition. The "1" stamped in the bottom is something to do with elevation correction on the sights. I'm not sure if its for just the one bullet weight and shape, or both that were available.
 
The stock disk tells things like the condition of the bore at last inspection and the size of the bore and how high it will shoot at 100yrds.
I'm not positive how to read it, but I think it says yours has a very good bore - #1. I've seen people interpert it differently.
You should do research on ammo type. There is a thread here at CGN about guns most likley to Ka-boom. Search for it.
 
There were two bullets used by the military with the gun, a lighter spitzer and a heavier roundnose (around 160 grn, but the swedes measure in different units). The rear sight elevation dial has a small wire clip you can pull out. There are two windows in the elevation dial. You can remove the cylinder and re-insert it in a different position to give the distance in meters for the pointy spitzer (illustrated on the cylinder next to the window, by my recollection) or the heavier round nose. The only ammo that ever gave me trouble with my ag42's were some swedish milsurp that were fmj and had a nickle like finish on the projectile. They must have created excessive pressure, because I had failure to extract and a broken extractor. All of the other ammo I used, commercial norma and CIL all shot well out of the rifles. Its easy to find the brass once you see where yours throws it. Mine threw it around 20 feet to the front right. I wouldn't put any sort of lube on the cases, then again, I never shot reloads out of mine. I saved the once fired brass and reloaded it for the bolt action gun.

I had one years ago and it would blow the primers out of the cases and they would fall in the action jamming it.
These were factory rounds.

BTW like the box mag on the Enfield the mag on the Ljungman was only taken off for cleaning.
One loads it round at a time through the action or via stripper clips.

hang on to that extra mag they are very very hard to find i understand and worth over $100....

i would be very careful bout factory ammo ive shot some of the igman ammo and seller and belloit but both seem to be too hot for this gun.... the case head gets the bolt face "tatoo" and the action slams back very very hard....i think im gonna start loading for it soon....i have also heard that using to slow of powder in it can cause a KA-BOOM....:eek:

good luck with the new rifle they are very accurate and very light recoil to shoot;)....
