I picked up a 1945 longbranch a while ago, but recently decided it was in need of a good cleaning. However, I have no idea how to remove the bolt! The youtube videos I have watched are of little use, as they all tell me to depress the bolt head catch, which is missing on my rifle. This is my first Lee Enfield, so please dont poke fun of my ignorance:p
Any assistance would be great.

Your rifle is a No 4 Mk I * which is a slightly different animal to the No 4 Mk I. Most notably, the bolt insertion and removal is different.

Have a look at the bolt head track and you will see a small section that has been cut out (about an inch or so back from the receiver). Manipulate the bolt to get the bolt head into this cut area and simply pull the bolt head up and clear of the track and align it with the rest of the bolt body then pull the bolt to the rear of the action and out.

I can take some photos of my LB to show how it is done if visuals help as well.
