Please Help Identify this Item

My friend is catologing the 8CH Museum Items in Sussex NB and this item was found in a Vets barracks box, he served in WW2 and Korea. Looks to be a Firing Pin Assembly of some type. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's the firing-pin/recoil-spring assembly for an MP-38/40. HTH.
