Hey guys, I just picked up an old side by side shotgun. I am unsure what gauge it really is. The only markings on it are...A.L.&W. Toronto, Falcon 36, and Made in Belgium. Any ideas about the age and safety of this shotgun?? What about gauge?? I tried dropping a 12 gauge shell into it and it went okay, but would it be a 10 gauge?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! 8)

Hmmm I might be way off but, I wonder if it is Allcock Laight and Westwood?

I found this on them...

They seemed to be into the sporting goods thing, now maybe they had a Belgium Arms Company make them some shotguns...Sort of like how Mossberg used to make rifles for Sears, and other spoting good sellers.

Or it could be: A Falcon that Iver Johnson's Arms and Cycle works made.

Hope this helps narrow things down.
Let us know what you find out, sounds like a very interesting piece.

BTW: I'd not use it until you learn everything about it your can...it might be valuable. Hey! Any Antique road shows going through your area?
