Feel a little stupid here, not much experience with lever guns. Went to put the scope back on my Guide Gun last night. Pulled it outa the safe and noticed the lever is locked shut. Worked perfectly every time out, just cleaned it and put it away. I've got the dissassembly instructions off the net but just wondering if any of you more experienced guys could shed some light before I attmpt to take it apart. Can I dissassemble with the bolt in? The lever will open about 1/4". Any input would really be appreciated.

Did you put the scope base on before opening the lever? It couldbe you used the wrong screws and they went through and are now hitting the bolt. If it worked when you put it in, it should be fine unless you have the wrong screws.

Yeah, what he said.... ;) :D

NAA.

MTM- Is the shell lifter protruding through the bottom of the reciever when the lever is closed? A small chrome looking piece just behind mag tube. Or with lever closed, can you press in the loading gate? If lifter isn't in proper position it will lock gun up.
Lifter could also be catching on mag follower.

Thanks guys but nope. That was my first thought too. I used the same screws that were in it last time. I immediately removed the screws when I found it was locked. I've cleaned this gun several times and never any problems. At first I thought the extracter might be somhow jambed but with the lever in its new open possition(about 1/4") the bolt will move about 1mm. doesn't seem locked.

The lifter is sticking through. The gate will open with the lever shut.

I would still check what 450 Yukon said regarding the follower. It will prevent the lifter from operating.
Also, are you able to #### the gun by pulling the hammer back?

Thanks for all the input guys. I was a little worried about takeing the action apart after looking at the exploded views. Got brave and printed up some dissassembly instructions. Took the action apart. Yup the only loose piece got loose. Found the ejector in the bottom of the action. The up side is I now know how to take it apart for major kleening. Actually very easy and straightforward. Thanks again for the replies.
