Hey!

I have officially decided. I am buying a Glock. My restricted PAL came in the mail last week and I have been wanting a nice handgun for years, something I can be proud to own.

I went to the gun store near me today, checked out both the XD and Glock, and the Glock just fits me better all around, grip, profile, balance, trigger pull, etc...

So I am getting a black, Glock 17, but need help on which sights I should get.

I see there are the plain Jane Factory ones (I'm a minimalist and don't see anything wrong with these), the night sights which I am unfamiliar with, and the adjustable sights which I also know nothing about.

Which would you guys recommend? I do not plan on competing, I just shoot recreationally and have fun. I definitely like the look/usability, price, and simplicity of the normal factory sights, but do they have any flaws? Are they pretty robust?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, as I would like to order it ASAP.

Man I am so psyched... lol :D

Thanks again!!!

Plain simple ones. Night sites are great..if you shoot in the dark... I bet your range has lights huh? Adjustables are ok..but most will just adjust them then never touch them again. I would start of with basic sites and decide at a later date after many rounds if you really need an alternative. The stock Glock site is ok.

The factory Glock sights are pretty crappy. The night sights aren't bad, but just getting the plain jane factory plastic sights and swapping them off with some Heinie sights would be the best thing to do.

It's really a personal preferance thing... The choices are pretty self explanitory.;)

I bought a Glock 17 with adjustable sights. Then I bought an advantage arms Law Enforcement .22 kit that comes with the same adjustable sights.:)

Then I added the Glock Tactical Light with laser.:D

My preferance is the adjustable sights...

Happy shooting with your Glock!

I have two Glocks and can shoot them both good. As I am going to be using one for IPSC I am considering changing the front site to a brighter one (many brands to choose from).

I'd say save your money and buy ammo instead.

Glock sights

Congratulations on your excellent choice. I've been using the factory sights on my G17 and am very satisfied. At first I was shooting high, so I ordered the the lower fixed rear (6.1mm) and now shoots dead on. Glock sells rear fixed sights in 6.1mm, 6.5mm, 6.9mm an 7.1mm, I believe the 6.5mm is the factory height on the G17. I've had no trouble with them and find them durable, I've never had the front come off, and the rear sight stays put after windage is adjusted, if needed. The U shape rear and front dot may not be the best set up for precision work, but for fast shooting target acquisition, it works well. I'm a minimalist also, and these stock sights are keepers. Good luck

I wouldn't pay a hundred bucks for Trijicon night sights to upgrade an existing pistol, but if the two units cost the same new, then I'd opt for the glowy ones. Better resale value, kinda "ohhh ahhhh", and the zombies always seem to attack at night.

Good choice. As far as sights are concerned, there is nothing wrong with factory's to start. First you have to learn how to shoot the Glock as its just not point and start blastin'. Finger placement and trigger pressure will be learned and then you can play with the sights if necessary. Learn the basics first. You may find that you are quite happy with the results achieved with the factory sights..
Good luck
Cheers:)
