please help with bushmaster ??????

I am a total newb if only ever shot a pellet guns , my dad used to have a gun but it was stolen and it was back when u didnt have to have a full licenece.
we are wanting to get back into the sport and we want to get the bushmaster carbine a2 or a3 and we were wondering what kind of licenece do you have to have to be able to operate it ?

A firearms possession licence of course.

Specifically, to buy a bushmaster, the owner must have a Restricted Possession and Acquisition Licence (R-PAL). BTW, this is all laid out on the RCMP/CFC website :)
 
okay thanks now do you have to have restricted licence to buy any of the black rifles or is it just the bushmaster , how big of a deal is it to get your restricted lisence.

Welcome to the world of shooting. Personally I think you are jumping the gun on a Bushmaster. A good 22 rimfire is usually the first firearm people learn to shoot properly on, plus ammo is much cheaper. First you must take a standard firearms course. This gives you a PAL (possession acquisition licence). You can now buy non restriced firearms. Next is your RPAL (restricted pal). This allows you to purchase restricted firearms. Having a restricted is nice but you must comply with a special set of rules in order to own, transport and use this catagory of firearm. Check out the Canada Firearms Center for licence info and rules that apply. Since I do not know you age you may be limited right off on getting your licence's. It may be up to your father.
 
im 16 but i just want a m16 like gun dosent matter what calliber ? i just really dont want a hunting 22 or somthin like that , i was thinking of just gettin a bushmaster or dpms with a 20" barrel wouldnt that be non restricted then ?
what gun would you recomend that is like a m16 or m4 carbine that is under $1400 and non restricted ?

Please go and take your firearms course. Then we will not have to explain so much.
AR's are restricted by name no matter what you do to them (Except the AE-180B) I would suggest that if you have your heart set on an AR style rifle that you consider the 20" barrel length and get into a Service Rifle club. Let us know where you are in the world and we can recommend some clubs that welcome kids. My club does not charge juniors to shoot our matches, either match fees or day passes. We do expect that the ammo will be paid for. (About $ 20.00 for a match)

ill take the course and look into a 20 inch barreled dmps or somthin like that
 
You may want to consider the Norinco CQ-311 also. It's a chinese copy of the original M16A1 variety. Much cheaper than a bushmaster or dpms with little to no difference in quality. Save those couple extra bucks and spend them on more ammo to refine your technique.

Also, keep in mind that (generally speaking of course) most used firearms don't go typically depreciate in price, instead they either increase or at least stay on par with inflation.

Lever Arms is in Vancouver. I'm sure there are others also. If you're considering purchasing from out of province, talk to the CGN dealers (the ads at the top of the page). They're great guys. You should also look at the Equipment Exchange here on CGN. At least one AR15 goes up for sale a week, often more. Some very good deals can be had if you're patient.
 
yah i was looking at lever arms , and im, going to check the classifieds , what would a new norinco cq-311 be worth like bottom line one ? And are they non restricted ?
 
ALL AR15 type guns are restricted. the CQ311 is an AR type gun.

you can also look at Hunters in slurrey and sometimes Reliable in Vancouver has a couple.

PM MikeK for your RPAL. he is also addicted to AR's and can answer all of your questions.
 
o ok thanks i did not know they are all restricted , i guess i am going to have to go through alot to get one.
