Thanks everyone!!!
I went into the range tonight with a box of shells. I put up my target, ran it downrange to the 10 meter mark, borrowed a pistol, did my ACT/PROVE, loaded it up, took my stance (thanks to colinjw for the link), got my grip nice a snug, made ready, and waited for the fire at will command.
5 rounds went downrange, landing in the 6 and 7 circle.
Stop, breathe, lower the pistol, take a second to recompose, raise the pistol, another 5 go downrange. Give the target a good look, and see that I've got 1 in the 9 ring, and 4 in the 8 ring. I'm starting to like this grip/stance thing.
I look at my cheat sheet that I have with me with all the advice from my fellow NUTZ (thanks Rudy, John, Matt, Sunray, IM Lugger, Fall Guy and capp 325) and ready my grip and stance again. I take a couple of deep breathes, let them out slowly to steady my nerves again, stand solid, raise the pistol, and fire another 5 downrange.

9 Ring left of bull
9 Ring right of bull
This is really exciting.... I'm hitting what I'm aiming at (relatively close to anyway).
Another 35 went downrange, most in the 8 or 9 ring, another couple in the center bull, and one that hit the 6 ring near the bottom left side when my Crackberry went off as I was pulling the trigger and disrupted my concentration!
MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO POSTED A TIP/TRICK HERE.
They were all helpful in one way or another, and I'm beginning to develop a grip and stance that are unique to me.
I knew I had come to the right place!! I am so smart, SMRT smart!
