Mailed the bolt of my kids remington to get a bolt knob..... Post office lost it??????????

Any thoughts on where to go from here.... I'm guessing I'll need to find a Remington Authorized smith who can fit one.

My dad said it will need spacing etc....

Any direction will be appreciated.

Gord.

Pacific tool and gauge offers bolts , your dad is correct that it will need to be properly headspaced By a smith but any competent smith can do it doesn't need to be Remington authorized

Best to call a Remington rep and see what the cost and timeline is if you want a factory bolt or check the EE for a used one.
PT&G do make 1 Pc bolts, but it is ITAR regulated and paperwork plus wait time will be required and they are stainless steel finished/coloured. Either way, both will need gunsmithing to install correctly and yes a Rem Rep is not required for either.

Hopefully, the parcel was insured by Canada Post, and they will be picking up the tab. They might also be looking a bit harder if they know it will cost several hundred to get one, and then have the barrel headspaced to the bolt.

That sucks ! did you insure it for the price of the bolt and the work to be done by gunsmith ? If you didnt you might be better off buying a new rifle. Thats some bad luck

Well, for the first time ever in my life, I didnt insure a package..... I shipped it expedited to Edmonton - its a one day delivery and I didnt in they could ever mess that up!!!

The jokes on me I guess, That Murphy is one giant SOB in my book.

Lesson learned I guess.......

Expedited comes with $100 basic insurance, so that will help a bit.

Have they initiated an investigation of the loss? That is the first thing they should be doing, and you can ask if it has been started yet.

Ted

I do believe that expedited parcel comes with $100 of insurance included and it costs $1 per extra $100 of coverage needed. I know that $100 won't cover the replacement, but it is better then nothing. I would wait a couple days and see if it turns up. They lost one of mine once. It took a couple weeks to get the insurance money and the funny thing is that a week after I got the insurance money, my package showed up back at my house, packaging was damaged but contents were ok.
