I have acquired a pre 64 Winchester 30/30 model 94. It is good shape except, as the previous owner told me, his brother-in-law tried to lighten the trigger and ended up with a very unsafe hair trigger. The gun even fires often when closing the action. Does anyone know where I could get some parts to repair this gun or recommend a gunsmith, in Ontario, that could repair it?

Hello, sorry for taking so long to reply. I was out of town on family related matters. just returned this morning. I have done some trigger work on an Ithaca model 72 saddle gun. The trigger felt very rough and gritty. I just polished the trigger notch and the sear and it made a world of difference. As you probably saw in the two additional responses I received, both are suggesting replacing the hammer and sear. I have not taken the gun apart yet but I think the suggestions are good ones and would like to proceed that way. If you have a spare hammer and sear for the pre 64 win 94, please let me know what you would like to have for them.

Thank you,
George
