Hello everyone!
This is Edmond from the Sig Mechanics YouTube channel. I’m looking to find someone here that has a P320 FCU available that they wouldn’t mind helping test out a project that I am doing R&D on. If you’re interested please message me. I will include some details you will need to be aware of below, and if you feel that you’re okay with them feel free to DM me.

- Volunteer must be within the GTA area - In the month of August
- You must be the legal owner of the FCU with a valid RPAL
- I will personally do the work at an approved location ie: your Home or a range that will allow this
- The work I will do WILL void Sig Sauer’s warranty
- FCU can be pre or post upgrade
- You will be left with some free parts!
- Work will be permanent and irreversible - sort of, I can explain.
- Owner must be willing to provide me feedback on use over time.
- NDA might be required - This project is patent pending

Volunteer must be aware that I am not a gunsmith and cannot guarantee the upgrade will work - however if you know about the Sig Mechanics channel, you will know I am very knowledgeable about the P320 pistol and am capable of working with it. Also, IF the work being done does not function as intended, the -worst case- is aesthetic only and your FCU will still be fully operational!

NOTE: For the sake of saving time please only message me if you are okay with the stipulations I provided.

Thank you!

...So this will void the SIG warranty, you don't guarantee your work, there is potential for irreversible damage, and the user is obligated to provide you with continual updates. And I presume there will be no financial compensation for a person agreeing to this (Beyond 'free parts' they may or may not want).

Do you expect anyone to actually take you up on this offer?

Yes, I do hopefully. This is a bit of a shot in the dark, and I agree it’s a bit of a strange request. While all of what you said is true, I can let you know that I don’t expect updates into perpetuity, I meant something like letting me know a week or so after install for feedback only. My belief was that someone like me who is into tinkering would be open to this. I by no stretch of the imagination expect a line up of people open to modifying their FCUs just one or two folks within our community, who might be into this sort of thing.

I think you may have missed the part about saying what the expected outcome / positive changes this said volunteer may or may not receive.

Beyond aesthetically changing the fcu, can this person expect to have anything such as:
Shorter trigger pull / Shorter reset / lighter trigger weight / ability to use a different models/manufacturers parts?

Let me straighten up:
You want to do something on my gun,
The manufacturer warranty will be voided after you do the work,
No guarantee your work will work,
And I’m on my own,
You ask me to trust you and your work because you posted some videos on YouTube.

Tell me, do I look stupid ?

I checked out your site, looks cool and sounds like you know what you're talking about. However, I doubt you're going to find anyone here willing to do whatever you want to try to do. Especially it might be our last chance to buy. You're way better off buying a few more for your own studies. Get them while you can. Prophet should have a few in stock. But they're a little more because it's the xfull. Or buy locally from solely for basically the same price for the basic because you can pick up yourself. Good luck!

Ah yes, seems i did leave out some info when I posted it… well, I am working on a project that will allow you to convert your non-MS FCU into a MS FCU at home. Realistically, I know that the project already works but I am looking to gather more info. The work is reversible in the sense that reverting to a non-MS is just a pin away and “damage” is only aesthetic because its existence on the FCU in nonway affects functionality.

Thank you @Ruinerofallfun, I left out a key note: FCU must be non-MS!

I have actually spoken to both and I know Robert pretty well by now I’d say as we’ve been working on another project for him together. They have certification that permits them to work on the guns. I do not (yet).

@JQIAN, yes. I have been very clear about what this entails as I want to respect peoples time as well as property. I have therefore laid out the key facts about this project so they can be informed ahead of connecting with me. My ties to the channel are only to show my proficiency in the P320, in any case I know this isn't for most people. What I am looking for here is someone who probably has an old (out of warranty) FCU, who is likely into modifying their gun and already does not mind trying out new things.

And no, you don’t look stupid. Your concerns are reasonable given that I am not giving too much info away here.
Thanks!

@john777, thanks! Honestly I wanted to mostly get feedback from the community, the process works and I’m confident with it but I have to make sure people know the potential downside in order for them to make informed choices about it. I’m in Toronto for a while and wanted to possibly meet with some like minded people through this project. Although, I admit I’ve been in a bubble because I usually speak with gunsmiths or people who have no issue modifying guns so I think I forgot that it’s hard as a member of this community to “just go with it” on a personal gun.

You’re right on your last reply, the Canadian political landscape for guns adds another level of pressure to not try new things as a loss of even one gun in Canada right now is heavy. Without the right to own property, the government just seems to abuse everyone. It’s crazy how what is being done not only prevents legal owners from doing innocent hobbies, but kills small businesses and on the back end kills innovation for fear that things cannot be replaced now.

Please don't take all of the negativity (in this thread) personally, it's not personal, some of the people on this forum seem to exist only to throw stones.

I like your channel very much - it's the best there is when it comes to the P320 platform, better than Sig Sauer's, even, and your videos were the final motivator for me to dive into the P320 platform, so I wish you the best.

Thank you @Wendell, I appreciate your support! I’m always very happy to see that what I’ve been doing has been helping others, it was the main goal when I started this less than a year ago. Not to mention, I have gotten such a great reception by the Sig community so far that I won’t let a few negative comments get to me.

Should you ever need anything let me know, I’m at your service.
