I can't answer this, but can only add, .......... find an older one in nice shape
and don't worry about it.
If you purchase accordingly and later decide to sell it, you should be
able to re-cewp yer funds.

JM stamped is what I look for. The new REM stamped ones can be okay, as the quality has come back up... but still not where it used to be.

I have a 336 JM stamped from 1982. Its in great shape, was thinking of parting with it. May put it on the EE.

Just checked serial and didn't realize it was that old.

I was thinking about armacoating, spraying the stock or replacing but then I remembered some recent posts and just think its better to start fresh haha

Not sure if these old girls were meant to be black or plastic.

I believe the cross-bolt safety came out in '84.
