Hey guys I have this retired Winchester model 12 12 gauge passed down from dad. I am thinking of making a shotgun lamp with it for my son. I will keep the gun original in case my son wants to restore it someday.

Does anyone know much about these shotguns? I do see this model, obviously the ones in good condition go for a goo buck. Is this shotgun worth anything the way it sits now? Or is it perfect for a lamp?

Thanks in advance

Hard to tell from the pictures, but the gun does appear to have seen some had use.I believe with a little TLC it could be made into a decent shooter.A Model 12 would have to be in a lot worse shape than that one ,for me to want to destroy it ,by turning it into a lamp.Just my opinion.

Appears to be a parts donor gun to me. Serious pitting, punctured mag tube, broken stock. Might bring $100 but not from me.

Looks like parts gun, make a cool lamp if you don't have to butcher anything that's not already broke! Side note, safeties fail in these old girls. #### it, safety on, then light pressure on the trigger, finger off trigger, safety off. If it goes clunk you've got issues. Mine does so I don't use the safety except to show off... great for teaching new shooters to never trust a safety as well as rule 1, especially when loaded. The boom seems to get my point across nicely. The great thing about the older 12's is they have no disconnect so you can just keep the trigger back and keep pumping until empty!!!
Did I mention to make sure it's completely empty before testing the safety?

Clean it and oil it, store it properly, give it to ine of your kids as grandpas gun. They may appreciate it more than the ugly old lamp gun that got 5 bux at the estate auction. JMHO
