First of all, I apologize if this subject has been covered in another post...I searched a lot around here thinking this subject must have been discussed amongst collectors but I couldn’t find anything.

Say I found an independent engraver (and then a polisher) in my province, and I wanted to send them my restricted pistol to have it engraved and nickel plated. They told me I would have to fully strip down the piece and send them the frame separately (they said, technically, the frame is considered to be “the” firearm) by Canada Post pick-up service (so as not to transport it myself).

Can they legally perform plating/engraving work on my pistol ? There’s no alteration/modification being performed to affect the function of the pistol, but from reading so much on this subject online I’m thinking the slide might have to get some relief due to plating in the end. Am I overthinking this

Thank you for any input folks !
