What do I have...1899 on reciever but is it a 95...96...

It looks short enough to be a Swede 1894, but I believe they all came with bent down bolt handles, and the front sight is not from a 94. Others will know better, I am guessing an 1896 converted to the 38 styling. "all matching" - the serial number on the barrel is the same as is on the bolt? And, there will be a lot more than "1899" written on that top receiver ring...

Early production Model 1896 Swedish Mauser, made in Germany. Altered to 1938 pattern with shortened barrel, etc. Is the muzzle threaded? If so, that is for a blank firing device which shredded the wooden bullets.
