I would think you would be looking at $1300 to $1500 for the Colt Upper (and this depends on what kind of barrel, rail, etc. it has on it) and I would say around $450 to $550 for the Bushmaster lower (assumed XM15-E2S).

A colt 14.5" upper is mostly likely put together by someone with components. There were very few factory 14.5" conversion kits that were brought into country like over 12 years ago.

i wasnt really referring to thelength as much as the name and quality of the manufacturer. also would you mind explaining in greater detail more abou 'everything' youd check. im newto buying and the makes of ars - though not at all new to the actual use and mecanics. thanks!

The length is everything when it comes to rarity and value! There are many Colt 16" uppers and barrels flying around but very few 14.5" barrels or complete uppers.
For authentication:
- Proper barrel profile (Gov't, with Grenade launcher cut)
- Bayonet Lug
- Proper barrel markings "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7"
- "C" marked upper (behind spent casing deflector) OR stylized Diemaco "D"
- "M4" marking above the gas tube
- Tapered front sight pins
- Parkerized under FSB
- Extended feed ramps
- Chrome lined bore and chamber
- "C" marked bolt carrier
- "MPC" marked bolt
- Small take down pin holes
- Numbered top rail
- Auto sear relief cut forward of the rear take down pin hole
- Side sling swivel
This is by no means a complete list, but it's a good start. All of the above would be seen on a real Colt M4 or 6921. If you do have a complete upper, it is possible that it came from a 6921, but more likely you have a pieced together upper from Colt parts.

And I might add that paying $1800-2050 for a parts gun of unknown pedigree and usage is insane when you can buy a brand new 16" LMT for $1700 or a Stag for $1360 and they both come with factory warranties and a round count of less than 10.
i hink youre missing my point... i couldnt care less if te barrel is longer or shorter. that doesnt concern me. wha does concern me is quality and reliability andprice. if a 16 or 20 inch barrell from thesame manufacturer have a big difference in price, im clearly going for the lesser cost barrel. rarity means nothing to me.
in other words i want function over cosmetics. of somthing lik a barrel varys in cost because of length ill buy the cheaper thats the same quality. same with the receiver group... shape or graphics dont concern me too much. quality and price. quality and price. quality and price.

You asked about a very specific upper with a specific barrel length. It sounded to me like you were looking at buying the gun you described. They gave you some good info based off of what you said. If you don't want to pony up the dough for what is arguably the most expensive factory upper going then don't ask about it.
Sounds to me like you want an SP1 if you don't care about barrel length. They are quality rifles that can be had for around $1000. 20" barrel with iron sights but they are worlds apart from the gun you describe in your post.
