A good chouce... particularly for a lefty.

I've owned and shot a number of 68x series Berettas, including the 686. In 12 ga., I think the 30" 686E Sporter would be a little heavy as a upland gun for my liking, however, it will do very nicely for waterfowl, Skeet, 5-Stand & Sporting. A buddy uses his for Trap and does very well with it. That's not to say you won't be able to kill a pile of huns & sharpies, they're just a little heavy for dragging around the stubble all day.
( Maybe I'm spoiled by light small-bore doubles for grouse & woodcock ! )

Like all the 68x series guns., the 686E will stand a lot of shooting before it ever
needs service, and they arrive in a configuration most everybody can shoot reasonably well. Good choice !

Then rest easy, there are lots of 68x series guns out there with 50,000 rounds + through them with no problems. A buddy has an older Supersport with, we estimate, well over 150,000 rounds through it ... a new extractor fitted two years ago, but other than that, it's still going strong. I put well over 50,000 through a 682Gold with no problems, and more than that through my current DT-10. Not a hiccup. They're built to last.
