Hey all

Now this is not a rant or a chance to beat someone up....I just have not liked the cuts I get locally and need a new place.

I am in Orangeville and need a couple deer diced up. I dont need sausage or pepperetts.

Who and where have you had a great experience with???

Learn how to do it by yourself, you'll enjoy the end result so much more. Head onto youtube and search something like deer processing, there are videos there that walk you through the exact same steps as the butchers take. Buy a couple boxes of freezer Ziplocks or a Food Saver and you're laughing. If you don't have a meat grinder, just freeze all of your chunks that you want to grind until you get or borrow one.

And I forgot to mention that its easy as heck to pick up. My first deer took me about 4-6 hours or so, but that includes deboning, packaging, labeling, and grinding. My next animal after that was a 200lb bear and it took me about 1.5hrs to do by myself and it was a breeze.

Yup. DIY.
Our group used to pay a butcher and it was getting crazy - started at $30 a deer years ago now they want upwards of $100 - so $500 for our group...
Bought a grinder and a band saw last year and they paid for themselves already. Most paper supply places sell butcher paper.
Our group does it together so it doesn't take too long - couple guys deboning, a guy on the grinder, a guy on the saw, etc.

Plus you get the cuts how you like them. Do you enjoy having a nice 2 inch thick fillet mignon steak but don't want to pester the butcher about how you like different things? Well you got it your way this year. Screw up a cut? Boom instant hamburger.

You have nothing to lose.

"...2 inch thick..." The way they were intended to be. You can't learn much from a video, but there are lots of books.
