Hello... I'd like to hear from anyone who has used the Lee C312-185 gr cast bullet mold for their .303 British rifles.
I've read some both good and poor results from it on the net.... Like to know if it is worth investing in or not...Will this mold drop a bullet out at .313" or .314" even with the right alloy?

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob. I just got mine recently and have started loading them - will fire my very first round tomorrow, so I'll let you know.

I'm using mine for my .303 (No4 Mk1) and my Mosin Nagant 91/30. Both slugged out at .311 bores. These bullets (from my mold at least), drop around .311-.312, with wheel weights, fluxed.

Hoping they'll shoot ok, gas checked.

I have an old single cavity here that drops .311 to .313 with a mix of pure lead and wheel weights. I have shot them as cast and sized to .311 and picked off plastic water bottles at 50 yards no problem.

Sorry to say that I haven't shot at paper for groups yet... Too much fun recycling plastic water bottles I guess.

I have one that I originally purchased for use in a 303 british and it worked well. I have since used it in a Fin M39 where it is excellent. Cast them in WW and sized to 311 for both, though they should have been larger in the 303. I am now using the same bullet sized to .309 for use in a Savage 303 and so far the test run of 5 rounds was satisfactory, (4" circle at 50 yds.) so will see. Since loading them for the british I have learned a bit about loading for old military rifles and I think I could get better results now, but have sold the gun, so maybe next time, eh.

For my Mosin I run them through a .311 sizer and they shoot fine. For my Longbranch two groove barrel, I have to paper patch them and then run them through a .314 sizer. Other wise they will tumble.

Mine shot decently from a 5 groove mark 4 longbranch. I used 17gr H110 sized 314 & gas checked. Accuracy was very close to the ball ammunition.
sight setting had to be raised about 400yds.
