Whats it worth? Found it today and pretty sure its a good deal just want you experts to re assure me before i go back and buy it. I think the wood may ahve been lightly sanded and oiled but other than that it looks all original.

Between "lightly sanded" and "original" there's a significant difference, from a purely collector's point of view. One good sign to look for is if the forend is stamped with the serial number, undeside, close to the front.

A clean, very good shape Lithgow with its bayonet is a nice package. Pictures would help though. How much is the seller asking for? That's help us tell if it's a good deal or not...

He is asking 450$ I see similar rifles without the bayonet listed for 350$ that are not flying off the shelf. Will check the fore end the year 1944 is stamped the butt

What wood is it made of? Seems to me the coachwood stocked guns are worth a bit more. I got my 'lightly sanded' (cartouches are still plainly visible) Coachwood Lithgow about 6 mos ago for $225. It has a great bore and is a sweet shooter. I thought that was a good deal.

Has it been FTR'd? They seem more common and should be cheaper. Usually they have a dull almost parkerized like finish rather than the more desirable worn bluing of an original rifle.

As stated above, pics would really help.
