Remington 700. I got one as my first hunting rifle & it's been nothing but accurate, reliable, and easy to clean.

Definitely go with the X-Bolt. I've owned 3 X-Bolt Stainless Stalkers and a bunch of A-Bolts. So far the X-Bolt has impressed me more than the A-Bolt and definitely any Remington that I've owned. In general quality, accuracy, and aesthetics it beats Remington in my opinion.
