Update: pics removed by mod, I have no reason to believe the second set of photos are not of the gun being offered. The seller apologized for the stolen photos and I have no reason to believe the second gun was not legitimate.

If the deal on the frame is legitimate it was a good find for the new owner ;)

There is some photos of a second mixmaster gun that consists of a 1938 frame, 1937 replacement slide, and modified target sights I cannot comment on it if that may have been a legitimate gun he was trying to sell?

I can say the photo of the original 1938 Colt shown above does not belong to the seller nor did he have any sort of permission to use that photo.

maybe he was too lazy and "stole" the pic off internet? note the serial number he stated is different to the pic?
also maybe he is trying to show the news paper section stating the serial # range of 1938 made colt and price range in respect to it's condition?

OP, read what it says just above the photo: he's using the photo as a reference on pricing ONLY, it seems!

(probably doesn't have his own book on collector gun values and had to steal the pic off the net/some forum)
 
I will post an update when I hear back from the seller. Perhaps it was sheer laziness using the first photo (I hope) and it will be removed.

I have dealt with Bruno and he is a very honest guy - our deal took months to complete because he went through the process of having a prohibited gun switched to restricted so I could buy it. He kept me updated all along the way and also gave me good pricing on other equipment. I would definitely buy from him again.

So, the OP wins the internet today - that picture isn't the gun he owned but was used to show value. **golf clap**

Perhaps then it's likely the second gun is fine but when the seller steals a photo of another collectors gun to use to promote his ad, it sort of makes me a bit suspicious of the other photos as well, I remember seeing those photos posted on another forum recently as well and I hope they weren't stolen also. This is also an infraction of the rules of CGN EE rules.

The first picture posted does not show value, those values are from a 1937 transitional model which is valued differently than a 1938 M1911A1 Colt.

If the frame is good (which I hope based on your experience with the seller and his trader rating) the buyer got a very reasonable deal on it :)

That pistol would've been perfect to use as a 'lower' for my vintage Colt .22 conversion unit. :cool:

I have just been made aware of this post initiated by Steve1987...
For those of you who are also members of coltforum.com, here’s the link to my initial posting of the subject Colt 1911A1 (1938), that eventually created later on CGN what could be translated from French as a « big storm in a glass of water » :::

At that time, I was seeking info from expert Colt members, since I’m not one. In it, I expressed my concern about the « MODEL OF U.S. ARMY » inscription on the right side of slide.
Besides, if you check entry #9 on coltforum), you’ll see the so-called stolen picture of SN 712350 for which I have received an infraction.
Later in my WTS on CGN, I clearly advised potential buyers about the slide issue, and also that the sights had been replaced.
Its transfer being now approved, this Colt 1911A1 US Army is presently en route to its new home. As I always do, I back all my sales with a guarantee of satisfaction or full refund.
The lucky buyer of this is clearly aware of that.

Hi Bruno,

I had no issue with your listing after the photo of my gun was removed from it. JohnnyP asked me if it was okay to post my pistol on ColtForum in your thread prior to doing so.

I edited this thread to explain that you had just stolen my photo once I figured out what was going on. I have no doubts/problem with your listing past that, although thought it was sort of suspicious to see my gun as the first photo in the listing. I see now what you were trying to do, using it as an example of what the gun would have looked like in original condition / value (I assume).
