PMAGs don't fit in AR15's because of pins

I bought 5 PMAGS from a site sponsor not long ago, only to find out that they don't fit in either of my my ar15's properly. \
They don't fit in my Aero Precision at all, they can be forced into my norinco but gouge up the inside of the magwell because the pins stick out so far.

if it wasn't for the pins sticking out then they would fit perfectly.

Is this a common issue?
is it just kinda hit or miss?
Is there anything i can legally do so that the magazines will fit in my gun (i.e without removing the pin) or should i just ditch them?

This solves the problem most of the time. I use a more coarse file to start and the finish up with a fine. A light polish at the end and the mag will fit nice and drop free.one thing that is hard to solve is inserting the mag on a closed bolt. If the mag was pinned to 5 instead of 5.5, there might not be enough compression available to insert with the bolt in place.
 
Drill them out and replace them with countersunk rivets.

This isn't common. More the result of an inexperienced person doing work they have no business doing.

^^^^ This, I don't know who you bought your pmags from but just picked up 4 from a site sponsor and they fit great in my AR and my VZ.

I had the same thing happen, traded my gen2 pmags that I got from wolverine that seated and dropped free right out of the box.
The ones I traded also gen 2 would not fit what so ever. Had to file them nearly flush since they were on the spine of the mag. Not a huge big deal but a slight inconvenience.
I've had the same issue with some of my pistol mags as well. Part of the fun of having to live with mag restrictions.
 
A couple of minutes work with a bastard file or thirty seconds with a Dremel tool will take care of the problem. You might want to drop your dealer a line and mention the issue and damage to your magwell. If they're concerned with customer relations they might offer a discount or freebies by way of apology.

The way its pinned on the spine i think if i filed it down enough to fit without damaging my magwell, id probably end up taking the pin off.

It doesn't even look to me like the head of the pin touches the mag body because theres that little ridge sticking up on the mag

You could always take it off and pin it on the other side. Or file that exact area down a bit so that it recessed, and pin it again in the same spot.
 
That's bush league...

Drill them out and use a countersink bit to cut out the ridge. Then put in a flush mount/countersink rivet and you're problem is solved.

....or send them back to the hack that sold them to you.
 
Obviously they aren't countersunk.
If you can't fix them, surely you must have a friend with an electric drill, countersink, and pop riveter.
This is a really, really simple repair.
There doesn't need to be an ongoing thread.
 
This thread doesn't need 18 posts. This is a simple and fairly common problem that has a simple solution, this isn't rocket science people.
