If I'm shooting off a 6-9" Harris bi-pod, will I obtain better accuracy with the swivel locked (by a Harris pod lock), or with it free to rotate during recoil?
 
I found that the pod lock helped my accuracy because it took the movement out of the bipod. With the out of the box swivel bipod I found I couldn't get the nut tight enough without the use of some pliers, which lead to the gun "flopping" from side-to-side unless I was really leaning in to it.
 
With the pod-loc, you are less likely to change your cant angle in mid-string. Maintaining the same cant angle is critical at long range.
 
You also have to watch how much your feet dig into the ground during a string. My 308 used to dig pretty good and deeper on the right than the left due to torque. The pod lock can be used in conjunction with a scope level to adjust for this with each shot. Setting the rifle level and then locking the pod means you won't loose the level while aiming (or at least is is easier to stay level).

I really like the pod lock and would recommend it.
 
PodLock is a great addition to the Harris BiPods, however anyone interested should check out T-Nuts.com and get the same lever lock for $6-$8. Simply confirm the thread required and order on line.

It's a 10-32 thread on the Harris and M6x1.0 on the other brands. Great tip I had picked up here a while ago. Much more affordable that the Harris product. You can get it in nylon (BPL-NS) or steel (BPL-ZS). It comes with the 3/16" spacer.
