Took my 6.5-303Epps out to work up some loads. First set using a 140gr. bullets grouped OK @ about 2 inches high at 100 yds. Next set; 120gr bullets grouped OK BUT the group was between 4 and 6 inches high. Velocity difference was about 500 f/s. Barrel temp not an issue, powder weights all done with a scale and both bullet types are PSP. Would differences in distance to the lands do this as I did not pay any attention to this and loaded both types to the same length. Any ideas as to why such a big difference in POI. Thanks.

I find that lighter bullets drop instead of rise...But that's why we check things @ the range before we hit the bush.

It is what it is. Not to worry.

I got my 308 win 26" barrell. Sighted it in and broke it in with two box's of hornady match boatail 168 gr. Then handloaded 155 grain hornady amax's with 46.3gr varget after some load workups with the same brass and wlr primers. Same Poi with a lighter and faster bullet at 100 yards. I was shooting for groups so I didnt change the scope or the rounds per minute, and the temperature was pretty constant at 60 ish. Range Range, and more Range time:) Enjoy your 6.5-303Epps!!!
