Hi guys. I have a question. I can`t seem to find the answer on the net. Is the bayonet lug and front sight actually a one piece extension of the barrel ? I have a polish m44 1953 with the lug cut off and was wishing to restore it. --- I didn`t cut it off- I swear to GOD, I don`t torture guns. I appreciate your input. Thanks Chris

post a couple pics of what you have and we can let you know if it can be salvaged/restored. depending on what was "left" you might be able to get the parts you need. similar thread posted yesterday. need pics before we can help

I will post pics in a week or so - going away. The reason I asked about the extension is that Liberty Tree sells a lug but it looks like it includes the front sight.

it does include the front sight which if memory serves is just pinned on. if you look at your rifle you should see the pin through the side of the front sight. if that's intact and there is a groove for the side pin on your barrel, then you will be able to add the lug back on. i have seen some geniuses grind them off and that makes them unrecoverable .
