Depends on how you look at it, and what you want. Supply and demand I guess. If you want the closest thing to a "like new"mosin, then expect to pay more. I bought a "like new" M44 and paid extra but it was worth it to me. To others, not worth it.
I refused to sell mine, unissued,still in the grease for $425 with sling and oiler, but its meHey lads...
Just wondering a rough price on an all matching Polish M44. I recently saw one in the EE that had a tag of $400 on it. That seems a bit much IMO.
