I am in the process of restoring a bubba 1952 Polish M44 Mosin Nagant
I have sourced the bayonet and mount, but I am stuck. I cannot find a M44 stock in Canada. i have found truck loads in the USA but cannot find any this side of the border. Marstar is dry and i have called a couple other of our reputable dealers, EE has been no help either... PS my wood working skills are Garbage so i am avoiding cutting a 91/30 stock.

HELP!

That's the one that was at the gun dealer. It's gonna cost you twice the price of a M44 to restore that. Make a friend at the wood hobby club on base and get an 91/30. Or finish the job get a plastic stock and go hunting!

Stocks are a controlled item I believe. Work with Prophet River and import one. I think it's a 50 dollar fee for a stock.

"It Depends"

Age, what type of rifle it's for, whether someone was dumb enough to label it "tactical" thereby triggering all sorts of extra rules.

Liberty Tree are idiots when it comes to export. They default to "no" on a lot of things that are not, in fact, controlled. I've tried ordering Enfield parts from them only to get the "Nein! Dast ist verbotten!" from them, only to order the exact same part from Numrich without any difficulty whatsoever. Liberty Tree are just a bunch of lazy slack-@ssed j@ckwads who couldn't be bothered to look things up.

Numrich has a couple of people on staff who, all they do, all day every day, is figure out how to stay on the right side of the law while exporting as much as possible to anyone with a valid CC. They're a lot easier to deal with.

Bide your time. One will show up eventually. Sometimes, the cart comes before the horse. A year ago, I bought a laminate 98 stock, with hardware. Jeez, what do I need this for??? Well, a while later, I scored a 98 made in a Mauser factory under French supervision with a bubba stock. 10 minutes and I had a decent representative piece! Way more luck than brains. :p
