Hey guys.

Awhile back here (not sure if it was this forum or another) I saw a few pictures of a fellow who polished his stock glock barrel. I have noticed that my barrel is getting kinda patchy, and I was thinking I might spruce it up a bit!

If I remember correctly, a dremal was involved?

Im just curious if anyone else has done this, and how they did it.

I dunno, I try to keep everything as stock looking as possible now.

Polishing the barrel might remove from it's resale value and take away its surface rust inhibiting attributes (unlikely, but I thought I'd toss it in).

If you want a polished barrel get an aftermarket stainless one :)

If you are serious about it, a dremel would suck... get a real polishing wheel on a benchgrinder and some rouge compound - should only take several minutes. All items can be bought at "Acklands-Grainger Inc
"

i know that the tennifer coating is more than just a coating and that it penetrates the surface metal, i can't see deliberately polishing off the tennifer as being a good thing.....

I would not do it. I personally like the look of a worn barrel hood. Polishing is not akin to restoring the barrel hood - you are actually accelerating the wear that would occur over the next few years by firing. I cannot think of a single reason to do it other than aesthetic appeal, but each to his own I guess.
