Polishing brass parts.

Do you polish brass fittings on you milsurp? I was curious to see what the butt plate on my No4 looked like under the tarnish. So I returned it to its former glory, if only for a little while. From drab brown to eye squinting gleamin!

I cleaned up the barrel band and butt plate on my Lithgow wire wrapped SMLE, it turned out very well. Mind you, I didnt buff them until they were gleaming, I just got rid of the greenish surface tarnish.

If there was an old Sgt-Maj around it would be as "shiney as a ni99er's heel" as the old saying went. I can remember wasting a lot of time spit shining the bayonet scabbard with Kiwi black to achieve a matching glow with the web belt lovingly buffed with kiwi neutral.

That sounds pretty lousy, cap badge and boots feels like to much effort to me.
