I was setting up my dies for my 303 British tonight and noticed a ring around the bullet that you could feel with your fingernail. What do you guy's use the smooth your bullet seaters ? I remember this happened with some other calibers I was reloading a few years ago. I just can't remember what I did to fix it  Jack

I usually chuck them up in my lathe (could use a drill press etc.) and polish with 600 grit wet/dry sand paper with a little cutting oil for lube. Comes out like chrome. Just wrap a small piece of the paper around one of the bullets you're using.

"...noticed a ring around the bullet..." Seater plugs come made for spitzer bullets and for RN's. A spitzer plug on an RN will give you the ring. Doesn't damage anything though.

The bullets are Hornady 174 BTHP Pretty sure the seater plug is OK Seems this happened on a couple other dies sets I set up a few years ago. I know it doesn't really matter, it's just I am kinda fussy. ;) I'll polish it up later tonight.
