is there a polish anyone can recommed for blued handguns?
i have two dan wessons, the .44mag has alot deeper shine than the .357 i realize these guns were made years apart, and perhaps even in differant factorys, but if there is something to really "pep up" the shine without taking the bluing off i would love to know about it. what do you use??

Not possible. Shininess of a blued gun depends upon the underlying polish of the metal. I.e., high polish on the steel makes a high polish finish, rough surface makes a Matt or dull finish. Trying to polish up a blued surface means removing it down to the base metal and improving the surface smoothness.

Try gently applying a small amount of Flitz brand metal polish. It's a mild abrasive (as mild as you can get) mixed with a wax, it'll smooth and full the pores in the finish. Incidentally, if you have a Norc 1911 with that hazey semi matte blueing, you'll end up with a much nicer finish after using this stuff. Be careful though - if you're too heavy handed, or overdo it, you'll remove some of the finish.

yah the 44 is from 83-95, made in Palmer Mass., and has a really deeep high gloss gray bluing, the 357 was made in 1981 in Monson Mass, and has more of a satin dark blue, and maroonish blue on differant parts of the frame, beautifull in its own right! a really good cleaning is helping it alot!
